ASOTRECOL, the Association of Injured Workers & Ex-Workers of General Motors Colombia, is an association of workers who developed disabling injuries at the GM assembly plant in Bogota, Colombia and were fired for their injuries. As whistleblowers, they brought the huge number of injuries and substandard working conditions to the attention of the Colombian government. When GM’s power & influence turned out to be more than the government was willing to stand up to, they set up a tent encampment across the street from the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia and brought their struggle to the world.
